At HME Care and Peaceful Pines Senior Living, we believe leadership is about more than managing people and tasks; it’s about Living Life Together.
Recently, our Executive Directors and Directors of Nursing came together in Oacoma, South Dakota, for our first-ever Leadership Retreat, a gathering filled with inspiration and a shared sense of purpose. Inspired by the charm of the iconic Al’s Oasis, which graciously hosted our crew, our theme “Howdy, Partners!” set the tone for a retreat that blended laughter, learning, and a whole lot of South Dakota.
The western spirit of Al’s Oasis, a South Dakota landmark where travelers have gathered for over a century, reminded us why connection matters. For generations, Al’s Oasis has been a place where people pause, share a meal, and experience hospitality that feels like home. That same sense of belonging and tradition is what we strive to create every day for our residents, our families, and our teams.
Throughout the retreat, we celebrated the incredible impact our leaders have across our communities. Rolling out several new systems at once is no small feat; it takes talent, flexibility, and teamwork, and our leaders proved once again that they’re up to the challenge. Together, they’re helping shape something truly remarkable for South Dakota: communities where residents find purpose, belonging, and a sense of home.
One of the most meaningful highlights was unveiling our new Mission, Vision, and Values, along with our refreshed tagline: Living Life Together. It’s a simple phrase that captures who we are at our core. Because at Peaceful Pines, community is where life happens. Our buildings aren’t just places to work or live, they’re homes filled with laughter, purpose, and connection.
Leaders also engaged in training on handling crucial conversations and explored ways to foster compassionate, positive workplaces. We introduced new onboarding booklets designed to welcome future team members with an inside look at each community’s rich history, its ties to the land, and the dedicated staff who make them hum with energy and heart.
As we wrapped up the retreat, we couldn’t help but reflect on how far we’ve come and how much promise lies ahead. Just as the Missouri River continues to flow past Al’s Oasis, connecting generations across South Dakota, we’re building on that same legacy of connection and care.
If you’re looking for more than just a job, if you want to grow, lead, and make a meaningful difference, we’d love to have you join our story. Because we’re not just working side by side, we’re Living Life Together. Join our Team!
